Online Request Forms:
Express mail 1-2 day and Priority mail 1-3 day delivery options with a tracking number for a additional fees. Choosing this option will ensure you receive your certified copies in a more timely manner. This option is only available in the continental United States.

Certified copies are $10.00 each and uncertified copies are $.25 each.
The only persons by law that may request a certified copy of a vital record are:
- Yourself
- Your spouse
- Your mother/father
- Your brother/sister
- Your child
- Your grandparents
- A person seeking information for legal determination of personal or property rights (proof required)
- An authorized agent, attorney, or legal representative of the person named on the vital record
Effective January 1, 2026, individuals who were born in Dare County and subsequently adopted may obtain their birth certificate directly from the Dare County Register of Deeds Office. There is no longer a need to travel to Raleigh for this service.
