Lara is a dedicated community leader with a diverse professional background spanning finance, senior services, disaster recovery, and community engagement.  She spent 26 years with Wells Fargo, where she held credentials as a licensed insurance agent and FINRA Registered Representative.  She developed extensive experience in banking, investments and financial services while helping clients navigate important financial decisions and long-term planning.

Following her career in finance, Lara transitioned into the senior living industry, serving as a Lifestyle Director where she designed and implemented programs that enriched the lives of active older adults through wellness, social engagement, lifelong learning and community connections.  Her passion for serving others led her to continue working with aging populations and community-focused initiatives. 

Lara also contributed to North Carolina’s pandemic and disaster recovery efforts through her work with the North Carolina Office of Recovery and Resiliency (NCORR). She helped individuals impacted by employment layoffs during the pandemic and helped support communities and residents impacted by natural disasters as they navigated the long and sometimes arduous recovery and rebuilding process. 

Lara has always been a North Carolinian at heart with the Outer Banks being her home away from home for most of her life. In early 2020, she moved from Fredericksburg, Virginia to Manteo to fulfill a life-long dream of coastal living.  Outside of her professional career, Lara is deeply committed to conservation, wildlife protection and environmental stewardship.  She is an active supporter of the Alligator Wildlife Refuge and serves on the board of the Coastal Wildlife Refuge Society, advocating for preservation of North Carolina’s unique coastal habitats and wildlife. In Lara’s active role in the local Jeep clubs, she’s played a part in supporting the children of Dare County through toy drives, and collected donations for Bertie County’s SPCA among numerous other initiatives of the local Jeep community.

Family, faith and animals are at the heart of Lara’s life.  A devoted Christian, she strives to live her life guided by faith, compassion and service to others.  She treasures time spent with her children, grandchildren and friends and finds joy in creating lasting memories with those she loves.  Lara is also a passionate dog enthusiast and shares her home with several beloved dogs, including her Cane Corso, Triton, whose loyalty and protective nature perfectly reflect the qualities she values most - strength, devotion, and unwavering companionship.  

Known for her servant leadership, dedication to community and a passion for helping others, Lara combines decades of professional experience with a lifelong commitment to making a positive impact  in the lives of individuals, families and communities.

Amy is a native of Manteo and a graduate of Manteo High School. She started with Dare County in 2003 as the office support specialist at the Parks & Recreation Department office in Kill Devil Hills. She transferred to the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center in September 2014.

Amy has completed the Caring Effectively for Persons with Dementia training. In addition to being a Walk with Ease-certified instructor through the Arthritis Foundation, she is also CPR with AED certified and First Aid certified. Amy loves helping people and is a great member of the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center team.

Crystal is a graduate of Southwestern Community College with an associate degree in business administration and accounting. In 2017, she obtained a Personal Trainer Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Crystal is a Keiser-certified spin instructor as well as CPR and AED certified. 

Crystal and her family moved to Manteo on Thanksgiving Day in 2021. Her husband, Tony, is a lieutenant with the Manteo Police Department. They have a 13-year-old son, Bryson, and two dogs.

Crystal has worked in fitness part time as a group fitness instructor, kickboxing instructor, spin instructor and weight lifting instructor. With the majority of her career having taken place in an office setting, she is excited for this opportunity to be able to work full time in a field she is passionate about: fitness!

Kat has over two decades of educational experience in Dare County and has worked in tandem with the Dare County Public Services Department during this time. She holds two business degrees and a master's degree in education.

Kat also serves Dare County's older adult community as a Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counselor and is a Walk with Ease Leader through the Arthritis Foundation. Kat is an Ann Johnson Institute graduate and has earned the North Carolina Senior Center Management Certification. 

She is a longtime member of the Dare County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, is past president of the GO FAR (Go Out for A Run) Advisory Board and holds a North Carolina Special Olympics coach certification. In addition, Kat acts on behalf of the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center (VTCC) for external events.

Kat loves that she has the opportunity to work for Dare County and give back to the community of which she is so fond. When you can’t find her with her fantastic VTCC participants and wonderful, dedicated co-workers and volunteers, she is likely spending time with her beloved family and friends.
