Competition Beyond Athletics:
The Silver Arts portion of the Senior Games was formed in 1986 to provide seniors in North Carolina with an outlet for creative expression. Silver Arts encompasses the values commonly seen in an athlete and a artist: discipline, dedication and a sense of accomplishment. The following five wide-ranging categories of art are showcased:
- Visual arts
- Literary arts
- Performing arts
- Heritage arts
- Cheerleading

*Participation in the Dare County Senior Games is open to those 50 years of age and older who have lived in Dare County or Currituck County for at least three consecutive months of the year. To be eligible, you must be at least 50 as of the last day of the current year. Proof of age and residency will be required.
The Dare County Senior Games is presented by Dare County Older Adult Services in cooperation with the Dare County Parks and Recreation Department as well as the Dare County Public Works Department's Buildings and Grounds Division.
The Dare County Senior Games are sanctioned by the North Carolina Senior Games and promoted statewide by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services.
