SCAM ALERT: Attention Applicants for Special use Permits, Zoning Amendments, Subdivision Plats and Variances
Please be aware that Dare County has received an increasing number of reports of attempted fraud and scams related to the application process for these services. Applicants are being contacted by email, from accounts impersonating Dare County staff, requesting payment by wire transfer or other online payment methods. Dare County Planning does not take payment for these services online or by wire transfer. Payment for these services must be done in person at one of our planning offices. If you receive one of these emails please contact the Dare County Planning office- do not to click on any links or open any attachments.

Dare County Planning Department
The Planning Department operates in three offices located throughout Dare County. They are responsible for land-use planning and enforcement of state building codes in the unincorporated portions of Dare County.
All offices are open Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Manteo - Serves all of unincorporated portions of Roanoke Island including Wanchese and the mainland areas of Dare County encompassing East Lake, Manns Harbor, Mashoes, and Stumpy Point
Frisco - Serves all of Hatteras Island
Northern Beach - Serves Baum Bay, Colington, and Martin's Point
