Update: The Dare County Parks and Recreation Department regrets to announce the cancellation of tonight's highly anticipated Family Fun in the Park Block Party due to dangerous heat, flash flooding and strong thunderstorms possible this afternoon and throughout the evening.
The decision was made to protect the safety and well-being of community members and attendees. The Dare County Parks and Recreation Department extends its sincere apologies to everyone who planned to attend and participate in tonight's festivities. Dare County staff members appreciate your understanding and look forward to announcing future community events.

Location: Mustian Street to Aviation Park in Kill Devil Hills, NC
Parking: Attendees are encouraged to park at First Flight Elementary School, which is located at 107 Veterans Drive in Kill Devil Hills. The parking lot at Family Recreation Park will be reserved for emergency services vehicle displays and pedestrians.
The Dare County Parks & Recreation Department’s second annual Family Fun in the Park Block Party on Friday, July 18, 2025 will take place in a loop along Mustian Street and within Aviation Park in Kill Devil Hills. This free event will feature a cookout, water slide, games, scavenger hunts and work vehicle displays.
The fun begins at the Veterans Drive pedestrian entrance to Family Recreation Park (between the baseball fields), where participants will pick up a map that can be stamped at each stop and returned when finished for entry to win several prizes.
