Applications are accepted for current open positions which can be viewed on our Job Opportunities page. View our current openings and click on job titles of interest. From there you will see a summary of the position (including duties and requirements) and an overview of employment benefits.  If you feel that job is a good fit for you, click the Apply button to start the application process. 

From there you can create a profile or sign in to an existing one. If you have your resume stored on your computer or a flash drive, you can upload it to the system. You will complete the online application. You then will receive a confirmation email for each submitted application. 

You will also be able to sign in to your profile and check the status of all your submissions. 

The time line varies for each position. Typically positions are filled within 30-60 days of posting, but there are many variables that can affect that schedule. You can log in to the system at any time and check the status of your application. 

Dare County residency is not required. Non-US citizens must be able to work legally in this Country and present documents verifying immigration status.

You can create a profile in our system that will stay on file and be used to apply for multiple open positions. You will need to apply to each position, but your profile will contain your information making that process very quick and easy. 

These requirements include:

1.     be a citizen of the United States;
2.     be at least 21 years of age;
3.     be a high school graduate, or the equivalent (GED) (correspondence diplomas are not accepted by Sheriffs’ Standards);
4.     have been fingerprinted by the employing agency;
5.     have had a medical examination by a licensed physician;
6.     have produced a negative result on a drug screen
7.     make full disclosure of criminal charges and Domestic Violence Orders, both upon application and while holding certification;
8.     be of good moral character;
9.     have a thorough background investigation conducted by the employing agency, to include a personal interview prior to employment;
10.  not have a prohibitive criminal record.

Medical Examination and Drug Test will be done by this office.
