Brandy Tatterson, MSN, RN, PNP-BC
| Brandy Tatterson is a Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner of Primary Care and has been with the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services (DCDHHS) since October of 2020. She received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing at the College of the Albemarle and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as Master of Science in Nursing at West Virginia University. Prior to DCDHHS, Brandy worked in labor and delivery in Morgantown, West Virginia and in surgical stepdown at Duke University Hospital. Brandy shares DCDHHS’s goal of continuing to expand pediatric services to the department in order to cover the health insurance gap many Dare County residents experience. Brandy lives in Dare County with her husband of 23 years. Brandy and her husband have three children, two of whom are adopted through foster care. Brandy is an avid reader, loves to travel, and is an animal lover whose family includes three cats and two dogs. |
Susan Trueblood, RN, MSN, FNP-BC

Susan Trueblood, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, has been a family nurse practitioner with the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services since February of 2019. Susan received her Associate Degree in Nursing from the College of the Albemarle, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland. Her career spans more than four decades, much of it in emergency rooms and intensive care units, and includes service in the United States Air Force. Susan says she has never been more content in her career than she is currently at DCDHHS working with our patient population. Susan also serves as the department’s lead Hep C treatment provider. Susan’s family is from Eastern North Carolina but with her father in the Army, she traveled extensively growing up. Susan lives in Buxton and still enjoys traveling as well as walking, reading and pets of all sorts. |
Heather Freeland, MSN, RN, FNP-BC
| Heather Freeland, FNP-C, is an Advanced Practice Provider with the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services and specializes in women’s health services and prenatal care. With DCDHHS since September of 2024, Heather earned her Master of Science degree in 2021 from Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Heather brings with her 20 years of women’s health experience, working in OB/GYN, postpartum, NICU and lactation. Heather has four children, two dogs and three cats. She enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with her family and going to the beach. |
Leslie Kendrick, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

Leslie Kendrick, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC is an Advanced Practice Provider with the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services. Leslie received her Bachelor of Nursing from New York University and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from University of San Diego. A former U.S. Navy nurse, she comes to the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services with a background in emergency medicine in San Diego and Japan. She also has five years of experience in OB/GYN/STI. Leslie specializes in prenatal, STI, HIV prep, colposcopy, college physicals, GYN and well women exams.She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, skiing out west, and hanging out at the beach and reading. |
