The Dare County Sheriff's Office is proud to protect and serve its community, citizens and visitors. Since 1870, Dare County Deputies have been doing their part to help make our community on the Outer Banks, Roanoke Island and the mainland of Dare County a better place to live, work and visit. With a current staff of 147 Deputies and support personnel, the Dare County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency working within various divisions. We also run a great Summer Camp for our youth.

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 47000 block of Rocky Rollinson Road, Buxton. The victim sent scammers $5,300 in Apple gift cards as part of a romance scam. Under investigation.

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 46000 block of NC 12 Hwy, Buxton. The victim was tricked into sending a scammer money after they threatened to release compromising photos of the victim.

Larceny. 100 block of Partridge Trail, Colington. The victim discovered cash missing from a safe after contractors had been working in the house. Under investigation.

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 800 block of Harbour View Drive, Colington. The victim had approx. $1,500 stolen from a bank account when scammers pretended to be bank representatives.

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 300 block of Colington Road, Colington. Bank representatives reported approx. $44,000 of fraudulent transactions on an elder’s bank account. Under investigation.
