Morgan Williams, who has served as an electrician for the Dare County Public Works Department’s Building and Grounds Division since November 14, 2022, has been named Dare County Employee of the Month for July 2026. The prestigious award was presented to Williams by Facility Maintenance Supervisor Gordon Price during the Dare County Board of Commissioners meeting that was held at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026.*

In his role as an electrician, Williams is responsible for maintaining electrical systems throughout all of Dare County's facilities, ensuring that critical infrastructure remains safe, functional and reliable. This includes maintaining and inspecting smoke alarm systems, exit and emergency lighting, security systems and emergency backup generators, as well as performing monthly generator checks. He also performs intricate electrical repairs involving high- and low-voltage lighting systems in county buildings and parking lots; replaces ballasts, photocells and timers, as well as water pumps and floats; and repairs control systems on lights, pumps, fuel docks, balers and other equipment.

Williams is also tasked with installing data lines and terminations for phones, computers and printers; running conduit; and providing electrical work for new construction projects and facility remodels. In addition to his regular duties, he is responsible for providing after-hours emergency repair services and 24-hour storm standby support when needed.

As he began his Employee of the Month presentation, Price reflected on his longstanding connection with Williams and shared why he believes Williams is so deserving of the recognition.

“It’s an honor to be here to present this award to a well-deserving person,” he said. “I’ve known Morgan most of my adult life. We actually worked together a long time ago on construction jobs when I was working for my dad and we were building the houses and he was wiring them up. He’s always been a hard and dependable worker.”

That admiration extends well beyond Price’s own personal experience over the years. In a nomination form submitted to recommend that he receive the award, one of Williams’ colleagues described him as being someone who consistently responds to work orders with professionalism, efficiency and a willingness to see every task through to completion, no matter how complex it may be.

“Over the past several months, it feels like I have submitted work orders several times a week, and it is usually Morgan who arrives,” the nominator wrote. “No matter if it is a new monitor that needs to be hung, outlets sparking or electric blinds that stop working, Morgan takes care of everything. A few times he has had to go do research because he hasn’t seen the system before, but he communicates and lets us know what is going on and what his plan is to fix the issue.”

Williams’ willingness to take on an ever-growing workload without hesitation is another quality that makes him stand out, Price said, noting that no matter how many assignments come his way, he always remains positive and eager to assist.

“He never complains,” said Price. “When I really pile the work orders on him to a point that I feel like I need to apologize, he tells me, ‘No problem. Keep them coming.’”

The Employee of the Month nomination echoed those same sentiments, highlighting Williams’ calm demeanor, positive attitude and the reassuring presence he brings to every interaction with his fellow Dare County employees.

“He is always calm, explains things and has a smile,” the nominator wrote. “He is definitely one of the behind-the-scenes heroes who fixes things and keeps things working so we can all do our jobs.”

Price further emphasized that Williams’ contributions extend far beyond the duties of an electrician. Whether another employee needs assistance or a project requires an extra set of hands, Williams is always willing to step in and help out however he can.

“He really brings a lot to the table,” Price shared. “He’s an electrician; however, he’ll jump in and help with anything else that our department’s responsible for, from concrete, helping [IT Director Matt Hester] with his IT jobs, appliances, plumbing—pretty much anywhere else that he’s needed, he jumps in and never complains.”

That same dedication is evident in Williams’ commitment to seeing each job through to completion, even when it means staying late to finish the task at hand.

“He makes the most out of each day, pushing the time clock to the limits,” said Price. “A lot of times when I’m ready to leave at 5 p.m., I find myself sitting and waiting for him to show up because he’s trying to finish that last job. He never complains about sacrificing his time.”

Price also praised Williams for his resourcefulness, explaining that he has a knack for solving difficult problems and consistently rises to the challenge.

“He’s very resourceful when it comes to old and obsolete, hard-to-find parts. He sticks with his jobs and does whatever he has to in order to get it done,” he said.

As he concluded his remarks and presented Williams with the July 2026 Dare County Employee of the Month award, Price commented, “He’s a very hard worker and a great asset to our team. We’re lucky to have him. Thank you, Morgan.”
