Dare County Public Works is pleased to announce that the Construction & Demolition (C&D) Landfill located at 1603 Cub Road in Manns Harbor will resume Saturday operations beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

The C&D Landfill will return to its regular operating schedule and remain open on Saturdays as it was prior to the temporary closures that began in November 2025 due to significant staffing shortages within the Public Works Department.  

The reopening on Saturday, July 11, 2026 is possible due to recent hiring efforts that have enabled the department to increase staffing levels and support expanded operations. While several vacancies still remain, Dare County Public Works has secured enough personnel to safely and effectively restore Saturday service.

Dare County Public Works appreciates the community’s patience, understanding, and support during the temporary Saturday closures and remains committed to filling remaining positions and providing reliable service to residents and contractors throughout Dare County.

The C&D Landfill in Manns Harbor is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information about the types of items that are accepted at the C&D Landfill, as well as the associated fees for disposal, click here.
