Dare County Veteran Service Organizations are working with local and regional partners to explore the possibility of bringing a VA Disability Claims Clinic to Dare County or Currituck County in the fall of 2026. The proposed clinic would serve veterans in Dare County and surrounding areas—including Currituck County, Tyrrell County, Hyde County, Camden County, Perquimans County, Pasquotank County, Hertford County and southeastern Virginia—by providing direct access to on-site VA representatives who can assist with:

  • Filing new VA disability compensation claims
  • Reviewing or checking the status of existing claims
  • Answering questions about VA benefits and available resources

This type of outreach event is designed to make VA services more accessible to veterans who may otherwise have to travel significant distances for in-person assistance. Organizers believe the clinic could benefit veterans throughout northeastern North Carolina and nearby Virginia communities.

In order to help determine whether there is enough community interest to host the clinic locally, veterans are encouraged to complete a brief interest survey. Survey responses will help demonstrate regional demand and assist organizers in coordinating with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for a potential event.

Veterans who complete the survey may also provide their name and email address to receive updates and notification if a clinic date is confirmed.

Take the Survey

The survey includes options for veterans who would potentially be interested in attending a VA clinic in the fall 2026 or a future clinic in 2027. Community participation is strongly encouraged, as survey responses will help demonstrate the level of local and regional support needed to bring this service opportunity to the area.
