The Dare County Water Department is pleased to announce the launch of a new, secure and user-friendly online billing and payment management system for Dare County water customers*. The upgraded platform became effective on Monday, May 18, 2026, and is designed to provide greater convenience, flexibility and transparency for customers managing their water services. Users’ account and customer numbers will not change, ensuring a seamless transition to the new system.

This new system replaces previous online payment methods and introduces a modern, streamlined experience that allows customers to access and manage their accounts anytime, from anywhere. Customers can register for online access through the county’s new payment portal at https://darecountync.municipalonlinepayments.com/darecountync/utilities.

While guest payments remain available, creating a registered account is recommended to take full advantage of the system’s enhanced features.

With a registered account, customers can view current and past bills, payment history and water consumption in one convenient location, as well as monitor usage trends to better understand and manage consumption. The system also allows users to link multiple properties under a single login, making it easier for customers to manage more than one account. Customers can save payment methods for faster transactions, schedule future payments and set up email reminders to help avoid missed due dates.

The platform continues to support a variety of payment options, including credit card, debit card and e-check. Customers who are already enrolled in automatic bank draft payments do not need to take any action, as those arrangements will continue without interruption. New automatic payment options using debit or credit cards are also available through the portal.

To further support responsible water usage and help prevent unexpectedly high bills, customers are encouraged to utilize tools such as the Dropcountr app, which provides near real-time water usage monitoring and alerts. These enhancements give customers greater visibility into their water consumption and more control over how and when they manage their payments.

This new system reflects the Dare County Water Department’s ongoing commitment to improving customer service and modernizing essential services. By upgrading its billing platform, the county aims to make account management more accessible, efficient and convenient for all customers.

For questions or assistance with the new system, customers may contact the Dare County Water Department at 252-475-5990 or Water@DareNC.gov. For more information about the Dare County Water Department, visit DareNC.gov/Water
