Dare County Announces 2026 State of the County Presentation in Buxton, NC

2026 State of the County | Buxton | March 21, 2026 "Reviewing a Year of Progress in the Land of Beginnings"

Dare County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robert L. “Bob” Woodard Sr. will deliver the 2026 State of the County presentation twice in March, ensuring residents throughout Dare County have the opportunity to attend.

As announced previously, Chairman Woodard will first present the 2026 State of the County during a breakfast meeting on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 8:45 a.m. at Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills. The cost to attend the breakfast meeting is $10 per person.

To provide a more convenient option for Hatteras Island residents and property owners, Chairman Woodard will deliver the State of the County presentation again at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Cape Hatteras Secondary School, located at 48576 N.C. Highway 12 in Buxton.  

The Buxton presentation is not a different program, but rather an additional opportunity for Hatteras Island residents and property owners to hear the same message without having to travel to the northern beaches. The presentation is themed, “Reviewing a Year of Progress in the Land of Beginnings.”

Doors will open at Cape Hatteras Secondary School at 9:15 a.m., and the presentation will begin at 10 a.m.

There is no charge to attend the Buxton event, and it is open to the public; however, advanced registration is encouraged for planning purposes. Dare County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robert L. “Bob” Woodard, Sr. will also deliver the annual State of the County presentation on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant, located at 705 S. Croatan Highway in Kill Devil Hills. The cost to attend this 2026 State of the County event is $10.68 per person, which includes a full breakfast.
