Forging and Uttering Checks. 27000 block of Park Drive, Salvo. Checks intercepted after being mailed. The checks were then altered and cashed at out of area banks for $6,000. Underinvestigation.

January 6, 2026
Identity Theft. 100 block of George Tom Court, Roanoke Island. Bank account compromisedand $25,000 stolen. Under investigation.

January 7, 2026
Larceny. 900 block of Marshall C. Collins Drive, Roanoke Island. Subject was scammed whenthey sent a scammer posing as a bondsman $1,250. Upon follow up it was determined theincident occurred outside of Dare County.

January 9, 2026
Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 100 block of Scuppernong Road, Roanoke Island. Twohandguns stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Under investigation.

January 26, 2026
Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 900 block of Harbour View Drive, Colington. Victimhad $9,900 stolen from their bank account when they were tricked by a scammer pretending tobe a Wells Fargo representative. Under investigation.

Financial Card Theft. 200 block of Kitty Hawk Bay Drive, Colington. Victim reported losing 7 ¾Bitcoin (approx. cash value of $700,000) as part of an online crypto currency scam. Underinvestigation.
