With a current staff of 147 Deputies and support personnel, the Dare County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency working within various divisions. We also run a great Summer Camp for our youth.

On January 24, 2026, at approximately 07:33 p.m., Deputies from the Dare County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance in Roanoke Island, Manteo.

Upon arrival, deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. A search warrant was obtained, leading to the discovery and seizure of marijuana, buprenorphine, and a straw with cocaine residue.

Angela K. Baum, F/28, of Manteo, NC, was arrested and charged with:

Felony Possession of Cocaine
Felony Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance
Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana > ½ to 1 ½ oz
Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia
Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Baum has been issued a $30,000 secured bond in lieu of these charges.
