Dare County Public Works has announced that commercial trash collection has been cancelled for tomorrow (Wednesday, October 29, 2025) for Hatteras Island due to road closures as well as inclement weather from the coastal storm. Hatteras Island includes the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras. 

Commercial trash collection is currently expected to resume its regular schedule on Friday, October 31, 2025. Additional information will be announced as it becomes available.
