With a current staff of 147 Deputies and support personnel, the Dare County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency working within various divisions. We also run a great Summer Camp for our youth.

On Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:17 p.m. a Deputy stopped a vehicle on Roanoke Island,
Manteo near the Virginia Dare Bridge on U. S. Highway 64 for a traffic violation. A Sheriff's Office
K9 alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted resulting in the finding of a felony amount
of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Robert L. Ford, M/57, of Manteo, NC, was arrested and charged with:

Felony Possession of Marijuana
Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana

Mr. Ford was processed at the Dare County Sheriff's Office Detention Center and is in custody in
lieu of a $7,500 secured bond.

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to upholding public safety and encourages
anyone with information about criminal activity to contact local law enforcement.
