The Dare County Sheriff's Office is proud to protect and serve its community, citizens and visitors. Since 1870, Dare County Deputies have been doing their part to help make our community on the Outer Banks, Roanoke Island and the mainland of Dare County a better place to live, work and visit.
With a current staff of 147 Deputies and support personnel, the Dare County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency working within various divisions. We also run a great Summer Camp for our youth.

On October 03, 2025 at 05:07 p.m., a Dare County Sheriff's Office Deputy and K9 Unit were requested to assist NC Probation in the 1400 block of Colington Road for a search.
Adrian S. Bridges, M/63, of Kill Devil Hills, NC, was arrested and charged with:
- Felony Possession of Cocaine
- (M) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Mr. Bridges was issued a $4,000 secured bond in lieu of these charges and an additional $4,000 for a probation violation.
