With a current staff of 147 Deputies and support personnel, the Dare County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency working within various divisions. We also run a great Summer Camp for our youth.

On August 24, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Deputies from the Dare County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a dispute in progress in the Buxton area. Upon arrival, the suspect was found to have threatened use of a weapon to obtain a controlled substance. 

Kimberly N. Jakob, F/41, from Buxton, N.C., was arrested and charged with (F) Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and (F) Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Ms. Jakob was issued a $25,000 secured bond in lieu of these charges.

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to upholding public safety and encourages anyone with information about criminal activity to contact local law enforcement.
