
K-9 Deployment Leads to Narcotics Seizure
On August 11, 2025, at approximately 6 p.m., a State Trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. 158 for a traffic violation.
During the course of the stop, the State Trooper requested assistance from the Dare County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. Upon arrival, the K-9 was deployed and indicated a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.
A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle, resulting in the discovery and seizure of an amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia.
The Kitty Hawk Police Department also aided in the incident.
Tahnee R. Musick, F/36, from Elizabeth City, NC, was arrested and charged with two counts of Felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and one count of (M) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Ms. Musick was issued a $30,000 secured bond.
