Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 300 block of Colington Drive, Colington. Victim sent scammer(s) $2,200 through Venmo and prepaid Razor Gold Cards as part of a Facebook / Meta scam. 

July 10, 2025
Larceny. 100 block of Island Drive, Colington. After returning home from jail, the victim discovered their $6,000 coat and cell phone had been stolen.  Under Investigation.

July 16, 2025
Larceny by Employee. 2000 block of Colington Road, Colington. Former employee using the company credit card for personal items. Under investigation.

July 21, 2025
Larceny of Boat. 50 block Seafarer Court, Wanchese. 16-foot boat reported stolen after it was left in the water at a boat ramp for repairs.

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 2000 block of NC 342 Hwy, Wanchese. After responding to a report of a suspicious male, Deputies determined the male was a victim of a romance scam. The victim had sent a scammer $150 in gift cards. The victim’s Facebook “friend” never arrived.

Larceny of Motor Vehicle. 1000 block of 64 264 Hwy, Roanoke Island. Motorcycle stolen from a boat ramp parking area.

July 28, 2025
Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 400 block of Airport Road, Roanoke Island. Victim sent scammers over $18,000 on gift cards as part of a romance / kidnapping scam. 

July 29, 2025
Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 41000 block of NC Hwy 12, Avon. While out of the state, there were $4,600 in unauthorized “Google Monopoly” transactions on the victim’s bank account. Under investigation.
