On April 16, 2018, at approximately 12:48pm, Dare County Sheriff’s Office Central Communications received a report of an overdose in the 1000 Block of E.R. Daniels Rd, Wanchese, NC. Dare County EMS, Wanchese Fire Dept, Manteo Fire Dept and numerous divisions of the Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene. The female was treated at the scene by EMS and the Fire Dept. Once stable she was transported to the Outer Banks Hospital where she recovered and was released. At approximately 3:02pm another call came out for Cardiac Arrest on a 40 yoa male at the same residence in Wanchese. Again numerous agencies and Sheriff’s Office personnel responded. In this incident the male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation at this time leads the Sheriff’s Office to believe that both of these incidents were overdoses resulting from the use Heroin. The Dare County Narcotics Task Force* and Dare County Criminal Investigation Division began processing the scene and tracking down the alleged supplier of the Heroin. The Narcotics Task Force was able to obtain a warrant for Felony Sale and/or Deliver Heroin for the alleged suspect and quickly locate and arrest him on the warrant. He was taken to the Dare County Detention Center where the alleged suspect was also charged with Felony Murder 2nd Degree Distribution of Drugs. These cases are still under investigation and other charges and/or arrests may be made.

Wise is still in custody under a $550,000 secured bond.
